Years ago, 7 elderly Masai who owned the wonderful lands where the Leopard Gorge and the Double Gorge are located, a privileged and unique location in Masai Mara where Kandili Camp lies, decided to come together and proposed the development of a conservancy area to a few entrepreneurs who loved the nature of Masai Mara. Without hesitation, they got down to business and, with great effort and enthusiasm, they built a camp now one could enjoy from this wonderful nature and from real safari experiences, where travellers could feel what explorers felt when they arrived for the first time, set up their tents, light a fire and had dinner next to it. Real and incredible experiences such as the walking safaris. All these experiences are revived in Kandili Camp, together with the real African hospitality.
Nowadays, and despite its youth, Kandili Camp is considered as one of the best rated camps by TripAdvisor. We pride ourselves from doing everything at our reach to make sure our guests have a truly, unforgettable experience.
The conservancy area is a privileged and unparalleled location, land of the big cats, where the well-known BBC documentary series Big Cats was filmed. Some of the memorable panoramic scenes from Out of Africa were filmed from the plains of the Leopard Gorge conservancy area. Leopard Gorge dominates Olololoo Escarpment, the same one seen in the famous yellow airplane flight from the film Out of Africa, when Finch Hatton showed that wonder to Karen Blixen.
“There is something about safari life that makes you forget all the sorrows and feel as if you had drunk half a bottle of champagne … bubbling over with heartfelt gratitude for being alive”
