Welcome to Kandili Camp

“Be part of the great African wilderness and enjoy the open sky and horizons overlooking the Maasai Mara National Reserve and game wandering freely around our eco-friendly camp”

At Kandili Camp, we seek to recover the romantic spirit of the traditional safari giving our guests the freedom  to experience the African savanna naturally, at their own pace and according to their wishes: chats around a fire in the darkness of Maasai Mara nights,  starlit bush dinners, walking or driving safaris at night among animals within our own private conservancy, listening and falling asleep to the music of the wildlife…

Kandili in Swahili represents the traditional paraffin lamps coming from the days of the first safaris and still very much in use in Kenya.  These Kandilis  give their name to our camp. Light is a symbol of celebration, in all cultures, people of different religions and faiths light candles to celebrate and share special moments. In Kandili Camp we would like to share our passion for Africa, the beauty of its landscapes, its distinctive colors and smells, the sounds of its abundant fauna. Every night when darkness envelops the camp, we light up our Kandilis to celebrate and remind us about the unforgettable moments lived in one of the most beautiful and unique places in the world.

A short walk away from the world famous Leopard Gorge made popular by the BBC documentaries.

“We decided to go a second time to Kandili camp in six months because it's our favourite place in the Mara, the best quality-price place. It's not the big hotel with lots of tourists and noise. The location of Leopard Gorge is unique in the deep Mara, the tents are comfortable (good beds and nice bathroom), the Mediterranean food is fabulous, the place is not overly transformed for tourists: you're close to nature, no fences, you eat with a view on the Olooloo escarpment and the zebras and impalas which cross the camp at all times”.

"We started our Kenyan trip with the Kandili Camp and I would advise anyone to stop by, it's luxurious but not over the top, which still allows you to have a feeling of adventure, feeling accentuated by the amazing views and varieties and amount of animals around ( the most we've seen in Kenya). Personally my best experience in Kenya."

Aymar, France.

"Lovely place in the open Savannah with tents and employees really cool and super helpful. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to really enjoy all the wonders and the authenticity of the African savannah!!"

Rocco, Italy.

"The week I spent in Kandili Camp has been one of my best experiences away from home: facilities with all the details, a fabulous setting, great food and best of all, the treatment received by the staff of the camp. The employees, all from the area, are noted for their never stop smiling and their good work. The best were the sunrises and the sunsets from the porch of my room. Unbeatable!"

“ Thanks so much for an unforgettable stay!. Everything has been perfect. Kandili is a gem in the Masai Mara”

Karien Eigner, photographer.

"I have visited 10 countries in Africa and more than 50 parks doing walking safaris in some like Okavango or Kruger, and I have the feeling that was in Kandili Camp where for the first time I walked freely through the wild Africa”
